Meetings

  • Nelsonville Redistricting Town Hall: 6–8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, Nelsonville Public Library, 95 W. Washington St., Nelsonville. Hosted by the League of Women Voters of Athens County. 

General


Traffic

  • Mowing: Congress Run Road (CR 32), Brimstone Road (CR 56) and North Coolville Ridge/Mansfield Road (CR 90).
  • Hogue Hollow Road (CR 47): Slip repair project.
  • Diamond Brick Road (CR 33B): Temporary one-lane road closure 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Thursday between 17196 Diamond Brick Rd and Dana’s Tire (near 751 W Washington St). Expected completion: May 23.
  • Chauncey: Ellis Street is closed between Birge Drive and Nye Street this week. The street is expected to be closed between Nye and Converse streets during the week of May 19.
  • Ohio Department of Transportation:
    • U.S. 33 and SR 682 roundabout: Traffic maintained by flaggers on SR 682. Right shoulder closed on U.S. 33 westbound. SR 682 ramp to U.S. 33 westbound is closed through Aug. 1. Estimated completion: Oct. 31.
    • SR 7 resurfacing: Meigs County line to Church Road. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: July 15. 
    • Coolville RCUT: Intersection of U.S. 50 and Brimstone Road (CR 56). Project begins May 19. Lane closures in both directions. Expected completion: Oct. 31.

  • See students of rock: Stuart’s Opera House 2025 Afterschool Music Program bands will perform their work at 1p.m. Saturday, May 17. Free, no registration required. 52 Public Square, Nelsonville
  • Sugar Bush board opening: The Sugar Bush Foundation Board of Directors will accept applications until Tuesday, May 20. Email sugarbushfoundation@ohio.edu with questions.
  • The 2nd Annual School’s-Almost-Out Cookout: Celebrate the start of summer with free food grilled by Tri-County Culinary Arts students, music by DJ B-Funk, outdoor games, and more. All ages. 4 to 6 p.m Friday, May 16. Nelsonville Public Library, 95 W. Washington St, Nelsonville.
  • Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program training: Support survivors and begin a 40-hour advocacy training at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 20. Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program, 145 Columbus Road, Athens.
