Traffic

  • Ohio Department of Transportation
    • U.S. 33 and SR 682 roundabout: SR 682 at U.S. 33. open with flaggers. The right shoulder is closed on U.S. 33 westbound. Right lane is closed on U.S. 33  eastbound. Off ramp from U.S. 33 west to SR 682 closed. Use the non-interchange exit for Chauncey then turn right onto North Plains Road. Estimated completion: Nov. 28.
    • U.S. 50 RCUT: Reduced-collision U-turn construction is taking place on U.S. 50 at Coolville. Lane closures are in place in both directions. Estimated completion: Nov. 30.
    • U.S. 33 Athens-Meigs expansion: A two-lane to four-lane expansion project is taking place on U.S. 33 from Athens to Darwin and Five Points to Ravenswood. Lane closures will be in place in both directions on U.S. 33 between Pleasant Hill Road and Oxley Road through Friday, Nov. 7. Rolling roadblocks will be in place during rock blasts. Flaggers will maintain traffic at side roads intermittently. Estimated completion: 2028.
  • Albany
    • Hebbardsville Road bridge: Athens County EMS announced Sept. 12 that unforeseen structural issues will cause a potential six-month closure of the bridge at Hebbardsville Road (CR 17A) at the Fisher Road intersection (CR 17). 
  • Chauncey
    • SR 682 sewer line project: Project ongoing between 3rd Street and 4th Street; temporary signals in use. One lane closed. Estimated completion: Jan. 9. 
    • Converse Road paving: Paving on shoulders of Converse Street to Main Street to Mill Street underway. Do not park on the shoulder. Parking areas in that segment will be paved prior to Thanksgiving. The schedule is weather-dependent.

General

  • Nelsonville/ York Christmas baskets: Applications to receive baskets will be available online and at the Nelsonville Fire Department or Water Department Friday, Nov. 28, through Saturday, Dec. 6. Baskets are scheduled to be delivered Saturday, Dec. 20. 
  • HAPCAP Secret Santa for Super Seniors: Donate gifts to seniors who receive Meals on Wheels through Dec. 1. Donate online or in person at HAPCAP Glouster Office.
  • Albany electric scam: The Village of Albany warns residents about door-to-door solicitation from people unregistered with the village, claiming to be with an electric supplier. Do not give out your personal information. 
  • Motor vehicle rules at Nelsonville dog park: City officials remind residents that the quarter mile walking path included in the construction of the Nelsonville dog park is not designed to support vehicle traffic, including motorized vehicles, bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, or roller blades.
