Traffic

  • Ohio Department of Transportation
    • SR 682 sewer line project: Project ongoing between 3rd Street and 4th Street; temporary signals in use. Estimated completion: Nov. 10.
    • U.S. 33 and SR 682 roundabout: SR 682 at U.S. 33. open with flaggers. The right shoulder is closed on U.S. 33 westbound. Right lane is closed on U.S. 33  eastbound. Off ramp from U.S. 33 west to SR 682 closed. Use the non-interchange exit for Chauncey then turn right onto North Plains Road. Estimated completion: Nov. 28.
    • U.S. 50 RCUT: Reduced-collision U-turn construction is taking place on U.S. 50 at Coolville. Lane closures are in place in both directions. Estimated completion: Nov. 30.
    • U.S. 33 Athens-Meigs expansion: Lane closures will be in place in both directions on U.S. 33 between Pleasant Hill Road and Oxley Road through Friday, Nov. 7. Rolling roadblocks will be in place during rock blasts. Estimated completion: 2028. 
  • City of Athens
    • Chase Road (CR 69): A portion on Chase Road (CR 69) will be closed for full depth repairs between the intersections of Sandusky Road (Alexander Twp. 44) and Fisher Road (CR 17), daily 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Estimated completion: Wednesday, Nov. 5.
  • Nelsonville
    • Resurfacing and concrete repair: Taking place in both directions on Old U.S. 33 at East Canal Street, West Canal Street, West Washington Street, Burr Oak Blvd., and Happy Hollow Road. Lane closures in place. Traffic could be detoured. Estimated completion: Nov. 14.
    • Hocking Parkway on game days: Parkway will be closed to traffic between both ends of Loop Road 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Nov. 8 during a 2025 Hocking College home football game. Please avoid this area and use an alternative route.
  • Albany
    • Hebbardsville Road bridge: Athens County EMS announced Sept. 12 that unforeseen structural issues will cause a potential six-month closure of the bridge at Hebbardsville Road (CR 17A) at the Fisher Road intersection (CR 17).
