Hundreds of thousands of Haitian immigrants were set to lose legal permission to live or work in the U.S. this week, with Springfield, Ohio residents preparing for raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. A new law requiring Ohio correctional facilities to provide free menstrual products and allow female inmates to shower once per day while menstruating will go into effect on March 20. (Ohio Capital Journal)
Four months after a court ordered the Ohio Department of Medicaid to pay nursing homes up to $1 billion, facilities have yet to receive payments. The court found the department had underpaid facilities. Facilities say the delay in obtaining payment is worsening financial strain. (Ohio Capital Journal)
Ohio Sen. John Husted and a Democrat from Arizona have introduced the Delivering for Rural Seniors Act. The act would expand home delivery and rural food access for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), which serves 30,000 seniors in Ohio. (Ohio Food Banks)
