
THE PLAINS- Thelma Lasure, 91, of The Plains joined her beloved husband, William Lasure in Heaven on October 9, 2024 at The Laurels of Athens. She was born August 31, 1933, to the late Robert & Mildred Mayles Weekley on a small farm on Carl Road in Athens County.
She graduated from Ames-Bern High School in 1952. She and her late husband, William “Bill” Lasure along with a close friend, Jake Smith, opened Professional Auto Parts in Athens. After Jake’s passing, Thelma and Bill owned and operated the business until Bill’s death. She then sold the business and her home and moved to The Plains. She and Bill enjoyed boating at Hockingport, boating up and down the Ohio River. She was a member of the Concord Church.
Thelma is survived by several nieces and nephews and will be missed by all.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Peck and Bernadine Sayers; and three brothers, Eldon, Bernard and Gerald Weekley.
At Thelma’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Following cremation, her ashes will be interred in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield in a private family service.
