Ohio Department of Transportation
- U.S. 33 Athens-Meigs expansion: U.S. 33 Athens-Meigs expansion: Two-lane to four-lane expansion from Athens to Darwin and Five Points to Ravenswood. Shoulders are closed and side roads are closed intermittently for equipment crossing on U.S. 33 between Pleasant Hill Road and Oxley Road. Passing lane closed in both directions May 1–12. Roadblocks in place during rock blasts. Pleasanton Road will be closed March 26–Nov. 20. Estimated completion: 2028.
- Connett Road closure: Beginning April 6, CR 2-Connett Road will be closed at the intersection of York Twp Road–273 Levering Road for a box culvert installation project. Estimated completion: May 20.
- SR 329 resurfacing: A resurfacing project begins on April 14 between Zimmerman Hill Road and State St. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: June 30.
- SR 56 realignment: Begins on April 6 between Dogwood Ridge and Kimberly Road. The road will be closed. Detour is SR 278 to East Canal Street (Old U.S. 33) to SR 691 to SR 56. Estimated completion: Oct. 1.
Athens
- Athens utility relocation: Construction will begin on Carpenter Street then move State Street. Estimated completion: Fall 2026.
- SR 682/56 roundabout: Construction of a roundabout and sidewalks at the intersection continues. The city’s website on the project is out of date and the Independent has been unable to get a completion date.
Amesville
- County Road 94–Kuhns Road will be closed indefinitely between the intersections of CR 37–West Kasler Creek Rd & CR 99–Robinson Road due to an undermined culvert. A plan for repair is in the works.
Nelsonville
- Nelsonville Public Square partially closed: The east side of the Public Square is closed and barricaded to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic from the Dew House to the end of Rhapsody restaurant until further notice.
