ATHENS, Ohio — Willa Jean Hawk, 86, of Athens passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Kimes Nursing & Rehab Center. Born December 1, 1936, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Daisy Douglas VanDyke.
She retired from McBee Printing in 1998. She also worked at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital and was a foster grandparent for five years. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, and her grandchildren.
Willa Jean is survived by her daughter, Judith Lynn; two sons, Gerald (Kathy) and Albert “Shorty” (Pennie) Hawk; three granddaughters, Tess Marks, Brandie and Mackenzie Hawk; sisters Willena “Jackie” VanDyke and Wanda Dorr; and a sister-in-law, Pam VanDyke.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Albert Hawk, in 1971 and her three brothers, William Jesse VanDyke, Wilbur Joe VanDyke, and Willis James VanDyke.
