JACKSON, OHIO — William Lloyd Gates, 85, of Jackson passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his residence. He was born November 22, 1937, in Marion, Ohio, son of the late Ned and Evelyn Severns Gates Jr. William was married to Ralphetta Joyce Cowan Gates, who survives.
He was a retired truck driver.
William is survived by his sons, Danny (Brenda Schauer) Phillips of Jackson and William Lloyd (Gayle) Gates Jr. of Columbus; daughter Kathryn (Walter) Wilson of Marion; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his best friends, Ed and Linda Rowe of Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Anthony Gates, two brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
