William R. Wilson

William R. Wilson, 65 of Athens, passed away Sunday January 5, 2025, at Hickory Creek in The Plains.  He was born November 17, 1959, in Athens, to the late Willliam H. and Jean Tryon Wilson.  He was a mechanic and enjoyed working on vehicles and small engines.  He also enjoyed cruising in his truck and listening to country music, especially George Strait and Alan Jackson.  He believed in the power of God and had a big heart and would give the shirt off his back and share his food with anyone who needed it. 

He is survived by his son Burt (Maggie) and their two sons; daughters Billie (Terry) and their children Chelsie (Christopher) Young and Chase (Madison), Jill (Frankie) Hogsett and their children Katelyn Sutton, Hannah, Jolene and Myren, Julie Wilson and her son Logen Richmond, and Sarah (Henry) Robbins and their children Zachery, Olivia, Emily, Layla; another granddaughter Aerial; great-granddaughters Kyra and Maylee; his step-mother Wanda Wilson; a sister Linda (Richard) Baysa; a special niece Angie (Tyler) Schloss and special friends Rob and Cooky Hughes; and several other nieces, nephews, and friends, including those that provided a good support system for him at Heritage Commons. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Misty Wilson; a sister Shirley; a niece Shannon, and many aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will be at 1 pm on Friday January 10, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville, with Rick Seiter officiating.  Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.  Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  Contributions may be made to Morrison Funeral Chapel to assist with final expenses.   A message of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting his tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com.
