A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Rick Seiter officiating. Interment will be in the Beechgrove Cemetery, Perry County. Visitation will take place 5–8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, from 11 a.m. until service begins.

Ruth Ann Hanson
Ruth Ann’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be no services observed. Contributions in memory of Ruth Ann can be made to the Nelsonville Public Library.

Mistie Dawn (Savage) McGuire
Calling hours will be held 2–4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 and 6–8 p.m. at The Bishopville Church of Christ. In accordance with Mistie’s wishes, she will be cremated the following day.

Stimson Avenue Bridge to close Friday, Oct. 3
The City of Athens announced Sept. 26 that the Stimson Avenue Bridge will be completely closed 3–7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

Ohio Supreme Court upholds rejection of Nelsonville election case
The court denied the city’s second motion for reconsideration in its case involving the repeal of Issue 23 and removal of statutory races from the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
